Reef Edge Live Bait Report

A solid day on the edge of the reef with Patrick, Jeff, and Bryan — highlighted by a sailfish release, a big blackfin tuna, and a few mahi for the box.

Yesterday we spent the day live bait fishing on the edge of the reef with Patrick, Jeff, and Bryan, and the action stayed steady enough to keep everybody engaged.

We ended the trip 1 for 2 on sailfish, put a big blackfin tuna on the deck, and picked away at a few mahi to round things out. That mix is exactly why this time of year can be so much fun in Islamorada — you never know if the next bait is going to get eaten by a sail, a tuna, or a mahi.

The edge of the reef has been a great place to stay ready for multiple bites, and this trip was a good example of it. We had shots, converted one sailfish, and still boxed enough quality fish to make it back to the dock with smiles and fresh fillets.

Thanks again to Patrick, Jeff, and Bryan for a fun day on the water. If you want to get in on the spring live bait bite out of Islamorada, now is a good time to go.
